How To Disable / Enable Fast Boot in BIOS

Fast Boot is a useful feature found in BIOS or UEFI settings that helps reduce your computer’s boot time by initializing only a minimal set of devices required to launch the active boot option. However, it can sometimes prevent direct access to the BIOS or UEFI. This article will guide you through the process of disabling Fast Boot to ensure you can access your BIOS or UEFI settings.

Steps to Disable / Enable Fast Boot:

1. Entering BIOS/UEFI: First, you need to enter the BIOS or UEFI. If you're not sure how to do this, you can check our blog post on how to enter the BIOS or UEFI in Windows 11, 10, or a Linux system.

2. Using Advanced Mode: Once you have entered the BIOS or UEFI, check if you are in Easy Mode view. If you are, switch to Advanced Mode view. On an Asus ROG STRIX motherboard, this can be done by clicking on ‘Advanced Mode’ or pressing F7. The menus and settings may look different depending on the manufacturer, but you should look for similar options.

3. Navigating to Boot Configuration: Next, go to the ‘Boot’ tab and then to ‘Boot Configuration’. Here, you will find the Fast Boot option.

4. Disabling Fast Boot: You can disable or enable Fast Boot from this menu. Simply select the Fast Boot option and choose the desired setting.

5. Saving Changes: Finally, navigate to the Exit tab and click on ‘Save Changes & Reset’ to apply the changes. On an Asus ROG STRIX motherboard, this can be done by pressing F10.

By following these steps, you should be able to successfully disable or enable Fast Boot on your computer. This ensures you can access your BIOS or UEFI settings whenever needed.

Note: The appearance and names of menus might vary slightly based on your motherboard manufacturer, so always look for similar settings.
